Ede Slovin conducts one-day WomenTech training sessions for IWITTS to help states and local communities prepare women and girls for technology careers. She is an experienced and dynamic trainer with a wonderful sense of humor who has trained for IWITTS since 1999. Click here to see Ede's excellent participant training evaluations.
Ms. Slovin's hands-on experience in the technical education and equity fields make her uniquely qualified to deliver training for IWITTS.
From 1995 to 2005, Ms. Slovin served as Director of the New Directions program at Seminole Community College in Sanford, Florida, assisting single parents, displaced homemakers and single pregnant women to earn a degree or certificate. Under her strong leadership, the program has provided education and placement services to over 1000 women and 30 men. New Directions had a 100% placement rate and 38% of the placements were in nontraditional occupations for women! Enrollment increased by 600% and funding and scholarships by three million dollars during her tenure. She also recruited and supported over 200 volunteer mentors.
Since September, 2007, Ms. Slovin has served as the Executive Director of the Options! Program, which is a community based organization for Empowerment, Education and Employment.
Ms. Slovin's affiliations include Past Vice-President of the Florida Association of Career and Technical Educators, Past President of the Florida Vocational Association, Past President of the Florida Equity Association and Past Vice President of Women Work! (Membership and Development). She has received many honors, including the Arkansas Traveler award in 2001 for her training with IWITTS, and awards for retention, completion and fundraising by the state of Florida's Outstanding Coordinator's Recognition Program. Previously, she managed Adult Education Services for Seminole Community College and taught high school for five years.
